I only speak English. Do I have to know the local language?
Nope! Countries and schools are looking to give their students an immersive English experience, so you're expected to use only English in the classroom and it's not required to know the local language, or even necessary to be successful. There will always be other English speakers in your school and community.
Can I teach abroad without a degree?
Yes! It depends on the country, and sometimes the specific school requirements, but there are lots of programs for non-degreed travelers to teach English abroad, including our TEFL in Thailand, Volunteer in Thailand, TEFL in Costa Rica, TEFL Nicaragua and Au Pair China Programs.
I heard all the contracts are for at least one year and I don’t have that much time. Are there short-term contracts?
Yes! Actually most of our programs are short-term teach English abroad programs, anywhere from a 1-month volunteer gig with young monks in Thailand, to 2 months as an Au Pair English Teacher in China, 3-5 months for teaching English in Thailand, and 5-6 months for our Prague, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Colombia programs.
